Growing
up in Massachusetts, Jack was introduced to photography at the age of 8 by "helping" in Dad's darkroom.
But Dad also introduced Jack to radio and TV, electricity, engine technology,
mathematics...
After earning his PhD in physics, Jack's work gave him exciting
opportunities for pioneering research in digital imaging of many kinds
- graphic arts, satellite, machine vision, astronomical, biological...
Research achievements and publications led to Jack regularly being
invited to teach workshops in digital imaging at national meetings of
the Optical Society of America and the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation
Engineers, as well as at symposia outside of the US.
Jack has done technology assessment consulting work for venture
capital firms, and was awarded a digital imaging patent in 1998.
While Vice President of a Maryland biotech company, Jack's life-long
photography passion led to forming Chesapeake Light Photography, quickly
becoming active in studio and location portraiture, digital imaging, and
DC scenic photography. Jack's landscape, nature, and architectural images
were widely exhibited and earned numerous awards in the Washington, DC
area.
Now happily a Mainer in Cape Elizabeth, photographing Maine
and serving a Maine client base, Jack works full time at his most loved
avocation. He's also served in local government, and has been active with
both community service and conservation initiatives.
Jack is lucky to have a fine partner, Rose... |
